Soul Mates - Beliefs and Concepts

One of my dear friends and I were musing over soul mates, relationships, true love and all of that lovely stuff the other evening while sipping Jasmine tea.
From our conversation I understood that many of us along this path wonder if we can consciously manifest our perfect partner, prosperous business alliances and healthy family and friend relationships.

There is an ancient teaching from the Qabalah, (Hebrew root words QBL, which regards the tradition of passing on knowledge from generation to generation), that goes something like this:

"CONCERNING THE BRIDE OF MICROPROSOPUS:
711. UNTO His back adhereth closely a Ray of most vehement Splendour, and it flameth forth and formeth a certain skull, concealed on every side.
712. And thus descendeth the Light of the two brains, and is figured forth therein.
713. And She (the Bride) adhereth unto the side of the Male; wherefore also She is called, Cant. v. ii., "My dove, my perfect one." Read not, "ThMThI, Thamathi, My perfect one;" but "ThAVMThI, Theomathi, MY twin sister," more applicably.
714. The hairs of the Woman contain colours upon colours, as it is written, Cant. vii. 5: "The hair of Thy head like purple."
715. But herewith is Geburah, Severity, connected in the five Severities (i.e., which are symbolized in the numerical value, 5, of the letter H final of IHVH, which is the Bride), and the Woman is extended on Her side, and is applied unto the side of the Male.
V6. Until She is separated from His side, and cometh unto Him so that She may be conjoined with Him, face to face.
717. And when They are conjoined together, they appear to be only one body.
718. Hence we learn that the Masculine, taken alone, appeareth to be only half the body, so that all the mercies are half; and thus also is it with the Feminine.
719. But when They are joined together, the (two together) appear to form only one whole body,. And it is so.
720. So also here. When the Male is joined with the Female, They both constitute one complete body, and all the Universe is in a state of happiness, because all things receive blessing from Their perfect body. And this is an Arcanum.
721. And therefore it is said, Gen. ii. 3: "Tetragrammaton blessed the seventh day and hallowed it." For then all things are found (to exist) in the one perfect Body, for MTRVNIThA, Matronitha, the Mother (i.e., the Inferior Mother) is joined unto the King, and is found to form the one Body with Him.
722. And therefore are there found to be blessings upon this day.
723. And hence that which is not both Male and Female together is called half a body. Now, no blessing can rest upon a mutilated and defective being, but only upon a perfect place and upon a perfect being, and not at all in an incomplete being.
724. And a semi-complete being cannot live for ever, neither can it receive blessing for ever."

Soulmate is a term sometimes used to designate someone with whom one has a feeling of deep and natural affinity, love, intimacy, sexuality, spirituality, and/or compatibility. A related concept is that of the twin flame or twin soul - which is thought to be the ultimate soulmate, the one and only other half of one's soul, for which all souls are driven to find and join. However, not everyone who uses these terms intends them to carry such mystical connotations.
According to Greek mythology, One theory of soulmates, presented by Aristophanes in Plato's Symposium, is that humans originally consisted of four arms, four legs, and a single head made of two faces, but Zeus feared their power and split them all in half, condemning them to spend their lives searching for the other half to complete them.
Yet again, as referred to by Theosophy and later fine-tuned by Edgar Cayce, God created androgynous souls, equally male and female. Later theories postulate that the souls split into separate genders, perhaps because they incurred karma while playing around on the Earth, or "separation from God". Over countless reincarnations, each half seeks the other. When all karmic debt is purged, the two will fuse back together and return to the ultimate.

As is evident, there are many diverse beliefs and theories, but I do know one thing for sure, because it happened to me: when you are in touch with yourself and consciously working on being the best you can be at a particular moment in time, your soul mate will appear. When I met my Soul Mate and husband, consciously my entire focus and intention was directed towards preserving my own safety and security, but subconsciously, I was screaming out to the Universe: "Aren't there any men with balls left in the world? Where is my Knight in Shining Armour? I need him NOW!" And guess what...he showed up! Almost nine years later, our lives are spent discovering and enjoying each other, respecting each other and forging a partnership together. It is a life-long journey, we accept that, and it has its ups and downs. At the end of the day however, what really matters, is that our partnership is WORTH IT! All the work, love, effort, experience and energy invested in our relationship and those that stem from ours, have WORTH and Meaning.
So, from experience, I share with you this one thing: do not be so preoccupied with the manifestation of precise terms, concepts and emotions - be more concerned with using the knowledge and resources that life and teachers present to you on a daily basis. Summon the courage to look within and believe that while you are busy working on yourself and becoming the best you - your better half will show up!

Resonance and Your Life!

It's all about Resonance Dollz, seriously. Took me a while to find out about it, but gurus such as Michael E.Fisher, Dov Baron and Dr. Harlan Kilstein, [a.k.a. Obiwan Kilstein], have assisted me along this arduous, dragon-littered path to personal freedom.

You see, I didn't know that before I could affect any kind of change in my life, I needed to take ownership of it. In Dov Baron language, this means accepting accountability for everything that has been and is in your life.
A very bitter pill to swallow if your life has been tough, as has mine.

At first I was indignant. I refused to accept that I had manifested or attracted into my life an oppressor; a perception of not possessing any personal power and a conviction that I didn't have much self-worth.

When I quieted my mind and listened, very carefully to Dov's instructions: "look around you, acknowledge what is in your life and accept that you have created it."

The demons, dragons and ghosts in the closet all screamed at once, "No, it isn't true. It's Karma, or God, or Religion or Fate or something...I didn't create any of this nonsense."

I brooded over this dilemma for weeks, refusing to even consider that I was responsible for what had manifested into my life and then, one day, I said to myself, "Alrighty then - let's pretend that I did manifest it all. Firstly, how did I manifest it and why?"
I learned that all of us vibrate/exist at certain frequencies, just like everything else in the universe. Flowers resonate a certain frequency which is why we experience them as flowers. Water resonates at another frequency which we experience on another level and in fact, it is the frequency/vibrations that give form to an object, a thought, a concept.

If all day, every day, you actually feel as if you are worthless, guess what? You are going to resonate that particular frequency and in so doing, you will attract other people who feel the same way. You will continue to manifest into your life situations that reinforce your belief that you are worthless. However, the second you begin to take responsibility and recognize that you are in control of all that you manifest into your existence, you become inspired with the most incredible feeling of personal power and potential.

Instinctually, an ancient knowledge awakens within you and the light begins to shine from the inside.
You feel and you know, without needing to see any external evidence, that you are in control.
This only happens once you accept responsibility for all that is already in your life. When this realization dawned on me, I was filled with remorse and sadness for months. To think and to accept that I had been , unconsciously, manifesting fear, oppression and lack into my life was a very good reason for me to be filled with regret.

Then, magically, the feelings of remorse, which I now see as a healthy process along this path, started to wane, and a great feeling of empowerment and sense of worth infused me from within. If I had truly created this dramatic soap opera of a life, then surely, I could create comedy and happiness and success as well!
Wow! What a realization - what a milestone to reach on the road of life.

Then what? Then you reach out while the ancient knowledge awakens in your atoms and you become more and more aware each moment of what you are thinking and doing. You become more responsible: thinking moral thoughts and acting more maturely. Along the way, the universe rewards you with signs from people, in dreams, books, films and all around your world, encouraging you to persevere.

All the while, your frequency is vibrating to a higher resonance and you are attracting into your life people, things, events that are of a higher caliber.

"The problems we face often feel unchangeable. When we understand the Resonance paradigm and the work of Einstein and new physics, it becomes clear that all matter consists of vibrating wave patterns of energy. Therefore, all problems or symptoms of distress are also frequency wave patterns of energy. Frequencies can be changed as easily as we change the frequency of a radio or television set. The only thing that is required is a system that allows us to do this easily and effectively. Resonance Repatterning™ (RR) is one such system. It enables us to change the frequency wave patterns and transform the negative perceptions and beliefs that underlie our limitations in the form of poor health, difficulty in relationships, and other stresses in life.
Dr. Hans Jeny, a well-known Swiss Scientist, did some fascinating experiments with frequencies. He played different sound frequencies through a metal plate that had sand on top of it. He discovered that the sand would vibrate into different forms according to the sound frequency he played. For example, one sound might cause the sand to vibrate into the pattern of a starfish and another might cause it to vibrate into the pattern of a tree.
Dr. Guy Manners from England continued this experiment by asking the English Observatory to record the sound frequency of the Crab Nebula. He then played this recorded sound through a metal plate that had sand on top, and the sand immediately vibrated into the exact shape of the Crab Nebula!

What we are seeing is that frequency wave patterns, whether of light or sound, create the form. The wave patterns created by our perceptions, our energy frequencies, and the intention we resonate with determine how we experience life: with good health or disease, joy or depression, ease or struggle. In RR we use applied kinesiology to access the body/mind system. The responses we get indicate the unconscious negative patterns that the system is really resonating with. We then use applied kinesiology to identify the Self Healing Modalities necessary to shift the resonance.

Just so we're clear Dollz, I am an avid fan of Paul Venter who sequenced the human genome- his own, and I study quantum mechanics and metaphysics as a hobby.

The very reason why I cannot accept evolution theory versus the universe having been created by Intelligent Design, is precisely because through science I have discovered a Supreme Intelligence that permeates every single atom AND THE SPACES INBETWEEN. This intelligence did not "evolve" from mud, Darlings, it was DESIGNED and science proves it.

Unfortunately, when you divulge that you believe in evolution, and you put Darwin on a pedestal, you lose all credibility with me and you lose my attention, immediately. I see that you have closed your mind to acknowledging the precise, ingenius, immaculate intelligence that infuses every single article of matter and non-matter in our universe.

I too believe that we have evolved over time, that every species has evolved, there is no question that evolution is a fact - we are continually evolving.

However, to actually state and cling to the statement that we human beings are directly descended or evolved from an inferior genetic species that does not possess a soul, is an indication of a severe lack of knowledge.

Yes, I have read the Origin of the Species - I understand the theory of natural selection and I concur that it is an essential part of our ongoing evolution. This is not the debate. The debate is whether we descended from chimpanzees or not. We did not. When one seeks to discover and understand the metaphysical composition of nature and matter, one cannot help but have a close encounter with Intelligent Design.

This encounter will dispell any doubt that we were designed by a supreme intelligence. To believe otherwise is not only ignorant, it is the utmost of arrogance.

Ego- Bashing: give it a break, already!

Our poor Egos have really taken a beating recently, haven't they? On the self-development circuit I have heard many speak of the Ego in negative terms and I do not wish that we should be misled.

Our Ego exists for very good reasons and we have the power within ourselves to master our Egos and super-egos in order to remain functional, effective and compassionate:

According to Freud, Id, ego, and super-ego are the three parts of the "psychic apparatus" defined in his structural model of the psyche. They are the three theoretical constructs in terms of whose activity and interaction mental life is described. According to this model, the uncoordinated instinctual trends are the "id"; the organized realistic part of the psyche is the "ego," and the critical and moralizing function the "super-ego."
Even though the model is "structural" and makes reference to an "apparatus", the id, ego, and super-ego are functions of the mind rather than parts of the brain and do not necessarily correspond one-to-one with actual somatic structures of the kind dealt with by neuroscience.

Freud did not coin the terms "id," "ego," and "super-ego". His translater, James Strachey, borrowed them from Latin. Freud himself borrowed the terms of "das Es," "das Ich," and "das Über-Ich"—respectively, "the It," "the I," and the "Over-I" (or "Upper-I") from Georg Groddeck, a German physician.. I imagine that these terms are self-explanatory to the German reader.

The Id comprises the unorganized part of the personality structure that contains the basic drives. The id acts as a pleasure principle: if not compelled by reality it seeks immediate enjoyment. It is focused on selfishness and instant self-gratification. Personality, as Freud saw it, was produced by the conflict between biological impulses and social restraints that were internalized. The Id is unconscious by definition.

The Ego acts according to the reality principle in that it seeks to please the Id’s drive in realistic ways that will benefit in the long term rather than bringing grief.

The Ego comprises that organized part of the personality structure which includes defensive, perceptual, intellectual-cognitive, and executive functions. Conscious awareness resides in the ego, although not all of the operations of the ego are conscious. The ego separates what is real. It helps us to organize our thoughts and make sense of them and the world around us.

The ego is the mediator between the id and the super-ego, trying to ensure that the needs of both the id and the super-ego are satisfied. It is said to operate on a reality principle, meaning it deals with the id and the super-ego; allowing them to express their desires, drives and morals in realistic and socially appropriate ways.

It is said that the ego stands for reason and caution, developing with age. Sigmund Freud had used an analogy which likened the ego to a rider and a horse; the ego being the rider while the id being the horse. The horse provides the energy and the means of obtaining the energy and information needed, while the rider ultimately controls the direction it wants to go. However, due to unfavorable conditions, sometimes the horse makes its own decisions over the rocky terrain.
When the ego is personified, it is like a slave to three harsh masters: the id, the super-ego and the external world. It has to do its best to suit all three, thus is constantly feeling hemmed by the danger of causing discontent on two other sides. It is said, however, that the ego seems to be more loyal to the id, preferring to gloss over the finer details of reality to minimize conflicts while pretending to have a regard for reality. But the super-ego is constantly watching every one of the ego's moves and punishes it with feelings of guilt, anxiety, and inferiority.

To overcome this the ego employs defense mechanisms.The defense mechanisms are not done so directly or consciously. They lessen the tension by covering up our impulses that are threatening.
Denial, displacement, intellectualisation, fantasy, compensation, projection, rationalisation, reaction formation, regression, repression and sublimation were the defense mechanisms Freud identified. However, his daughter Anna Freud clarified and identified the concepts of undoing, suppression, dissociation, idealisation, identification, introjection, inversion, somatisation, splitting and substitution.

The Super-ego aims for perfection.It comprises that organized part of the personality structure, mainly but not entirely unconscious, that includes the individual's ego ideals, spiritual goals, and the psychic agency (commonly called 'conscience') that criticizes and prohibits his or her drives, fantasies, feelings, and actions.

The Super-ego works in contradiction to the id. The Super-ego strives to act in a socially appropriate manner, whereas the id just wants instant self-gratification. The Super-ego controls our sense of right and wrong and guilt. It helps us fit into society by getting us to act in socially acceptable ways.

The super-ego acts as the conscience, maintaining our sense of morality and proscription from taboos. The superego and the ego is the product of two key factors: the state of helplessness of the child.

The partition of the psyche defined in the structural model is one that 'cuts across' the topographical model's partition of 'conscious vs. unconscious'. Its value lies in the increased degree of diversification: although the Id is unconscious by definition, the Ego and the Super-ego are both partly conscious and partly unconscious. What is more, with this new model Freud achieved a more systematic classification of mental disorder than had been available previously: -

"Transference neuroses correspond to a conflict between the ego and the id; narcissistic neuroses, to a conflict between the ego and the superego; and psychoses, to one between the ego and the external world"

A review of "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed" By J. Matt Barber, April 7, 2008

There's a shakeup in the cult of neo-Darwinist pseudo-science, and that endearing, monotone high school teacher of "Ferris Bueller" fame is doing the shaking.

With his new feature documentary, "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed" (opening in theaters April 18), Ben Stein - actor, economist, presidential speechwriter and all around really smart guy - squares off with some of the world's most prominent anti-theist elites as he gets to the heart of the question, "Who are we, and how did we get here?"

This is not your father's documentary. "Expelled" rocks the house both literally and figuratively. It's gripping, music-packed, comically wry and always entertaining. But its entertainment value is yet surpassed by its educational merit.

Throughout the film, Stein boldly shines a light of honest inquiry, revealing time and again that Evolution's Emperor has no clothes. In his trademark deadpan fashion, Stein skillfully debunks the dogmatic neo-Darwinist programming we've all had relentlessly rammed down our throats ever since "Big Science" went bananas over that cute little Scopes Monkey.

Unlike Michael Moore's anti-Bush propaganda flick "Fahrenheit 911" - which sold us a lemon with deceptive editing techniques and staged confrontations - "Expelled" is intellectually honest, cerebrally stimulating and delectably provocative.Nonetheless, there are those who won't like it, not one little bit.

Enter Richard Dawkins. Dawkins, a prominent evolutionist, outspoken atheist and the best-selling author of "The God Delusion," is featured throughout the film. In one segment, he sits down with Stein for a heart-to-heart. After dancing around several pointed questions about how life began, Dawkins finds himself at a logical impasse with no surplus of sci-fi rhetoric. He's finally forced to concede that, indeed, an intelligent being may have created life on earth. However, that being could not have been "God," but rather, it must have been some organic, alien life form. Of course, that alien life form has to have been a product of "Darwinian evolution."

Through tears of wild laughter, audience members watch as Dawkins - apparently grasping the dizzying nature of his own circular argument - turns three shades of red and becomes purply tight-lipped.Dawkins? … Dawkins? …

But apart from space aliens, the general consensus among the evolutionary scientists interviewed was that all life, including human life, likely began when lightening struck a mud puddle (you know, like Frankenstein but without all the prefab body parts). This was then followed by a series of unexplainable, unprovable and totally random events that occurred over umpteen million years, eventually resulting in … you.

Although "Expelled" indirectly makes a strong case for the scientific theory of intelligent design, its primary message drives home the need for academic freedom, intellectual honesty and open debate on all scientific fronts.

As the movie masterfully illustrates, we live in a cultural climate where secular elitists in academia, the media and the courts chew up and spit out anyone who dares to question the gospel according to Charles Darwin. They're absolutely terrified to follow the scientific evidence wherever it may lead.They don't want to upset the morally relative applecart, which is loosely held together by the notion that we're all just a bunch of monkeys with an instinctive, biological excuse for all our behavioral choices. To them, life's a whole lot easier under the theory of evolution. Without a sovereign Creator to answer to, we get to scoot along and party hearty, free from accountability.Consequently, it's no wonder "Expelled" has Darwin's disciples scurrying for the shadows. Those secular humanist one-trick-ponies in the media, throughout academia, on the blogosphere and elsewhere are in full damage control. They're doing everything possible to discredit the film before it even opens. It's even been reported that two major networks are refusing to cover the movie (Gotta love that journalistic objectivity).

So, if you happen to be one of those evolutionary fundamentalists who were "randomly selected" to evolve with a built-in blindfold and earplugs, and you're comfy with your very limited worldview, be afraid of this film - be very afraid.

However, if you're willing to have your eyes opened and are interested in looking at all the evidence, then suck it up, wipe away that Darwinian Kool-Aid mustache and hang out with Ben Stein for a night. What do you have to lose? For everyone else, "Expelled" is a must-see. If you're already a person of faith, prepare to have your faith strengthened. And even if you're not, you can't possibly walk away without at least admitting that the debate over who we are and how we got here is far from over. So hold on to your hat. "Expelled" is nothing short of earthshaking. And, as the scientific community clearly recognizes, its tremors may be felt for some years to come.

Helen Silver-Goldstein is Back - God Help Us!

Oh God, she's back...
I sent her packing about 6 months ago, to Israel, her favourite place. I said, "Helen, relax, see all your relatives and old friends in the IDF, and please, please don't come home for at least six months."
She was upset, I could tell, but I had to have some peace and quiet, some time to contemplate whether my life would be better or worse if I chose to entertain this flamboyant, vivacious cougar personality.
I admit, it was more peaceful, but it was also a tad boring.
So I wrote to her and of course, I had to beg her to come back.
I wrote: "Okay, you know what, I'm happy you're a part of me because you add sparkle, joie de vivre and all that jazz. I can't stand being this guilty, scaredy-cat Catholic girl - Please come back and bring all your Jewish kugelness with you."
Next thing I know, I receive a telegram: " I knew you would miss me. I'm flying home first class on the first EL AL flight outta here. Be sure to fetch me at the airport. Oh, and leave your hubby at home, I've got lots to tell you, Doll!"

VHEC Honours Armin Wegner in Vancouver

On April 11, 1933, days after new anti-Semitic laws were passed in Germany, Armin T. Wegner, a born and bred German, sent a letter to Adolph Hitler. In part, it said:

"I have both the right and the duty to appeal to you, for my heart is seething with indignation, and I was not endowed with the gift of speech merely to make myself an accomplice by remaining silent. The Jews have survived captivity in Babylon, slavery in Egypt, the Inquisition in Spain, the oppression of the crusades and sixteen hundred pogroms in Russia. The resilience that has enabled this people to survive to the present day will also enable them to overcome this threat. But the opprobrium and ignominy, which now adhere to Germany as a result of this, will not be forgotten for a long time!... Though all prefer today to stand mute, I for one can no longer."

Wegner was honored Sunday, April 26, at a collaborative event with the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre (VHEC) and the United Armenian Committee of British Columbia (UACBC).

A German officer, Wegner served in Turkey during the First World War, witnessing the brutality that left approximately 1.5 million Armenians dead. The then 29-year-old documented what he saw using photography and writing. Turkish officials requested of Germany that Wegner be re-stationed. He was able to smuggle some of the photographs out and used them to bring awareness to the world of what he had witnessed.

In Wegner's letter to Hitler almost 20 years after the Armenian genocide, it seems as though he immediately recognized the Nazis' new anti-Semitic laws – for example, the boycott of Jewish professionals – as the beginning of a new genocide. Wegner was quickly arrested and tortured. He survived seven concentration camps before escaping to Italy.

Arthur Tachdjian, an Armenian Vancouverite, seeing a parallel between the Armenian and the Jewish experiences, had the idea of running a joint program. He researched online to find an historical connection between the two genocides and learned about Wegner. He had heard growing up that there was a German soldier who had taken pictures in Turkey, but he never knew anything about him, not even his name.

VHEC learned that Wegner was recognized as Righteous Among the Nations by Yad Vashem and the two communities decided to collaborate, using Wegner as the link. On Sunday afternoon, about 350 Armenians and Jews filled the Wosk Auditorium at the Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver. The Canadian and Armenian anthems were sung and Frieda Miller, executive director of VHEC, gave the opening remarks. She explained the current exhibit at the VHEC – The Armenian Genocide and the Holocaust: One Man Takes a Stand. It is from the Armin T. Wegner Society USA and displays many of Wegner's photographs from Turkey taken from 1915-1916.

Alice Wong, member of Parliament for Richmond and parliamentary secretary for multicul- turalism, read a letter from Prime Minister Stephen Harper, addressed to the Armenian-Canadian community and dated April 24, the 94th commemoration of the Armenian genocide. He wrote that both houses of Parliament recognize "the first genocide of the 20th century."

Adrian Dix, MLA Vancouver-Kingsway, received loud applause as he stepped onto the stage because, three years ago, he introduced a motion in the B.C. Legislature recognizing the Armenian genocide, which passed unanimously. He said Weg-ner is an example of someone who "stood up in his life for justice more than any of us could imagine."

The afternoon's guest speaker was Mischa Wegner, Armin's son, who flew in from Rome for the event. Wegner said that he only really learned about his father's past through his father's writings, after he passed away. He said his father "died" more than once and that he could tell that his father was broken and felt like he had failed to help either community. Wegner expressed the importance of making the next generation aware of "how easy it is that things that happened may happen again."

Nina Krieger, education director at VHEC, introduced Dr. Adam Jones, associate professor of political science at University of British Columbia, Okanagan. Jones spoke about what it means to be a witness, especially in the relatively new era of visual documentation.

The final speaker, Jack Deragopian, represented the UACBC. He said, "Denial by Turkey is a deep wound that just won't heal for us," and he expressed how impressed he was with the Holocaust centre's professionalism and work ethic.

Canadian-born Armenian Taleen Tchakedjian, 22, attended the event. "Even though we are a small community," she said, "we have two churches and there is a divide, so there was a lot of unity today, not just between the Armenian and Jewish community, but within the Armenian community as well."

Ben Stein on Florida's Darwinian Interlude

During the course of my studies over the past year, I have had the opportunity to listen to many hundreds of speeches by academics, scholars and learned men and women from around the world. I became perplexed when I noticed that many of these so-called intelligent people are stunted in their intellectual growth by their fixed belief that we just happened to "evolve" from mud.

The Buddhist knows, and any person who is close to nature: one cannot contemplate a flower, an animal or a mountain without seeing the intelligent design within and without. One simply cannot know all the functions of the body, mind and soul and believe that something so intricate, so intelligent, could generate itself from a swamp. It is ludicrous!

Florida's Darwinian Interlude

Just a few tiny, insignificant little questions.
* How did the universe start?
* Where did matter come from?
* Where did energy come from?
* Where did the laws of motion, thermodynamics, physics, chemistry, come from?
* Where did gravity come from?
* How did inorganic matter, that is, lifeless matter such as dirt and rocks, become living beings?
* Has anyone ever observed beyond doubt the evolution of a new mammalian or aviary species, as opposed to changes within a species?

These teeny weeny little questions are just some of the issues as to which Darwin and Darwinism have absolutely no verifiable answers. Hypotheses.
Yes. Guesses. Yes. Proof? None.
To my little pea brain, these are some pretty big issues about evolution, the origins of life, and genetics that Darwinism cannot answer. Now, to be fair, does anyone else have verifiable answers either? Not as far as I know.
But if there are no answers that can be reproduced in the laboratory, isn't any theory about them a hypothesis or a guess? Isn't any hypothesis worth thinking about? And aren't these immense questions?
Yet the state of Florida, the glorious Sunshine State, was (I am told), until recently, considering legislation that would make it illegal to allow teachers or students in public schools to discuss any hypothesis about origins of life or the universe except that it all happened by accident without any prime mover or first cause or designer -- allowing only, again, the hypothesis, which is considered Darwinian, that it all started by, well, by, something that Darwin never even mentioned.
That is, the state of Florida was considering mandating that only Darwinian-type suppositions can be allowed about scientific subjects that Darwin never studied. (This is not to mention that we know now that Darwin was wildly wrong about some subjects such as genetics, and, again, although he wrote about the evolution of species, never observed an entirely new species evolve.)
This was beyond Stalinism. Stalinism decreed that only Marx-Engels-Lenin-Stalin knew all the answers, but it did not say that subjects they never mentioned could only be studied if the student guessed at what they might have said. The proposed law in the state of Florida was an anti-knowledge, anti-freedom of inquiry law on a scale such as has rarely been encountered. Maybe in Pol Pot's Kampuchea there were such laws, but they have been unknown in the USA until now.
By an incredible miracle of good sense, at the last minute, the state of Florida changed the proposed regulations. They backed off powerfully saying that only Darwinism could possibly make sense and said they would allow discussion of differing theories about the origins of life. That's the current proposal as I write this on the afternoon of the 19th of February.
I suspect the now omitted proposals would have been unconstitutional in any event (although this always depends on the court you ask). Freedom of inquiry is part of freedom of speech. That is basic. That is what America is all about. Whatever the proposed -- now discarded -- regulations were, they have nothing to do with freedom, very little to do with science, and not even much to do with Darwin, who had a lot more respect for freedom of thought than his henchmen in Florida apparently do.

Jenny Lind overcame it when she showed her ability to command enormous financial rewards while at the same time gratifying the passionate desire of her nature and reaching the front rank of her day in musical art. And there is a long list of women singers, philanthropists, writers and actresses who have proved themselves capable of reaching the greatest literary, dramatic, artistic and sociological achievement.

Women as well as men are beginning to do their own thinking. They have awakened to some conception of their possibilities. They demand that if life holds any secrets, these shall be disclosed. At no previous time has the influence and potency of thought received such careful and discriminating investigation. While a few seers have grasped the great fact that mind is the universal substance, the basis of all things, never before has this vital truth penetrated the more general consciousness. Many minds are now striving to give this wonderful truth definite utterance.
Modern science has taught us that light and sound are simply different intensities of motion, and this may lead to discoveries of forces within man that could not have been conceived of until this revelation was made.
A new era has dawned, and now, standing in its light, man sees something of the vastness of the meaning of life—something of its grandeur. Within that life is the germ of infinite potencies. One feels convinced that man's possibility of attainment cannot be measured, that boundary lines to his onward march are unthinkable. We cannot obtain what we lack if we tenaciously cling to what we have.

The ability to appropriate what we require for our growth continually increases as we reach higher planes and broader visions, and the greater our ability to know what we require, the more certain we shall be to discern its presence, to attract it and to absorb it. Nothing may reach us except what is necessary for our growth.

All conditions and experiences that come to us do so for our benefit. Difficulties and obstacles will continue to come until we absorb their wisdom and gather from them the essentials of further growth. That we reap what we sow, is mathematically exact. We gain permanent strength exactly to the extent of the effort required to overcome our difficulties.

The inexorable requirements of growth demand that we exert the greatest degree of attraction for what is perfectly in accord with us. Our highest happiness will be best attained through our understanding of and conscious co-operation with natural laws.

The personality that understands its own intellectual and moral power of conquest will certainly assert itself. It is this truth which an enfamined world craves to-day. The possibility of asserting a slumbering intellectual courage that clearly discerns, and a moral courage that grandly undertakes is open to all.

There is a divine potency in every human being.

We speak of the sun as "rising" and "setting," though we know that this is simply an appearance of motion. To our senses the earth is apparently standing still, and yet we know it is revolving rapidly. We speak of a bell as a "sounding body," yet we know that all that the bell can do is to produce vibrations in the air. When these vibrations come at the rate of sixteen a second they cause a sound to be heard in the mind. It is possible for the mind to hear vibrations up to the rate of 38,000 a second. When the number increases beyond this all is silence again; so that we know that the sound is not in the bell; it is in our own mind.

We speak and even think of the sun as "giving light," yet we know it is simply giving forth energy which produces vibrations in the ether at the rate of four hundred trillion a second, causing what are termed light waves, so that we know that what we call light is simply a mode of motion, and the only light that there is, is the sensation caused in the mind by the motion of these waves. When the number of vibrations increases, the light changes in colour, each change in colour being caused by shorter and more rapid vibrations; so that although we speak of the rose as being red, the grass as being green, or the sky as being blue, we know that these colours exist only in our minds, and are the sensation experienced by us as the result of the vibrations of light. When the vibrations are reduced below four hundred trillion a second, they no longer affect us as light but we experience the sensation of heat.

So we have come to know that appearances exist for us only in our consciousness. Even time and space become annihilated, time being only the experience of succession, there being no past or future except as a thought relation to the present. In the last analysis, therefore, we know that one principle governs and controls all there is. Every atom is for ever conserved; whatever is parted with must inevitably be received somewhere. It cannot perish and it only exists for use. It can go only where it is attracted, and therefore required. We can receive only what we give, and we may give only to those who can receive; and it remains with us to determine our rate of growth and the degree of harmony that we shall express.

Imagine that: our mind is observing vibrations and then translating them into images for us! How fascinating. What a miracle! To think that at a certain frequency we perceive light, and at another frequency, we perceive heat, marvellous!

Exercises for the development of the mind present a variety of motives for consideration. They involve the development of the perceptive faculties, the cultivation of the emotions, the quickening of the imagination, the symmetrical unfoldment of the intuitive faculty, which without being able to give a reason frequently impels or prohibits choice, and finally the power of the mind may be cultivated by the development of the moral character.

"The greatest man," said Seneca, "is he who chooses right with invincible determination."

The greatest power of the mind, then, depends upon its exercise in moral channels, and therefore requires that every conscious mental effort should involve a moral end. A developed moral consciousness modifies consideration of motives, and increases the force and continuity of actions; consequently the well developed symmetrical character necessitates good physical, mental and moral health, and this combination creates initiative, power, resistless force, and necessarily success.

It will be found that Nature is constantly seeking to express Harmony in all things, is for ever trying to bring about an harmonious adjustment, for every discord, every wound, every difficulty; therefore when thought is harmonious, nature begins to create the material conditions, the possession of which is necessary in order to make up an harmonious environment.

When we understand that mind is the great creative power, what does not become possible? With Desire as the great creative energy, can we not see why Desire should be cultivated, controlled and directed in our lives and destinies? Men and women of strong mentality, who dominate those around them, and often those far removed from them, really emanate currents charged with power which, coming in contact with the minds of others, causes the desires of the latter to be in accord with the mind of the strong individuality. Great masters of men possess this power to a marked degree. Their influence is felt far and near, and they secure compliance with their wishes by making others "want" to act in accord with them. In this way men of strong Desire and Imagination may and do exert powerful influence over the minds of others, leading the latter in the way desired. The magnetic persons attract, allure and draw. They are emotional, and capture the will of others.

DISCUSSION

It is tangible, that power of which Haanel writes. When you are in the presence of a human being who is aware of their magnitude, the air becomes full of electricity and we are either attracted or repelled by their magnetism. The greatest hope for me was achieved when I read how important it is to possess moral character above all.

Before any environment, successful or otherwise, can be created, action of some kind is necessary, and before any action is possible, there must be thought of some kind, either conscious or unconscious, and as thought is a product of mind, it becomes evident that Mind is the creative centre from which all activities proceed.
It is not expected that any of the inherent laws which govern the modern business world as it is at present constituted can be suspended or repealed by any force on the same plane, but it is axiomatic that a higher law may overcome a lower one. Tree life causes the sap to ascend, not by repealing the law of gravity but by surmounting it.
To control circumstances a knowledge of certain scientific principles of mind-action is required. Such knowledge is a most valuable asset. It may be gained by degrees and put into practice as fast as learned. Power over circumstances is one of its fruits; health, harmony and prosperity are assets upon its balance sheet. The law of mental attraction is an exact parallel to the law of atomic affinity. Mental currents are as real as electric, magnetic or heat currents. We attract the currents with which we are in harmony—are we selecting those which will be conducive to our success? This is the important question.
